  • Deer are habitual creatures.  They will return and teach their offspring to return to the best feeding areas.
  • Breaking deer of their habits may take more than just plant selection.  You may need to use physical barriers like fencing or screening.
  • Top deer repellent recommendations for ease of use are the following:

                   -  Plantskydd

                   -  Liquid Fence

                   -  Repels All

  • Deer will create the most damage in spring.  This is due to new tender plant growth being produced, and very hungry deer and their young from the winter months
  • In September, male bucks cause most of the landscape damage on saplings (trees 3" caliper or less) and young shrubs by rutting.

                    -  Prevent this by using plastic tree guards, burlap or mesh screening material around the trees & shrubs.

  • Planting more palatable species in the front yard, closer to the house or street may reduce deer damage
  • As deer population increases there will be increased pressure on the deer to find more food sources.  Therefore trees that normally are high resistant to deer may become medium or low.
